DRIVE C2X@ simTD - joint event, Friedberg, 13 October 2011

Making Cooperative Systems Cooperate.

To promote cooperative driving DRIVE C2X has developed a dedicated campaign focusing on its various test sites all over Europe. DRIVE C2X@ simTD is the first event in this series taking place on October 13, 2011 in Friedberg, Germany. simTD is one of the main initiatives in Europe to set up a large scale FOT with cooperative systems.

On the test grounds near to Frankfurt/Main, simTD shows its V2V and V2I communication system which was especially developed for field operational testing. Amongst others demonstration vehicles, test bench, communication and control unit, vehicle application unit, ITS roadside stations and the simTD traffic management center will be presented. Selected functions can be experienced through live demonstrations.

simTD has recently completed its crucial milestone “system works in the test field” and is now on the verge of the field operational trial. In three workshop sessions the international C2X community was invited to learn about the results of simTD, to compare them with the outcome of other European FOTs, and to identify their potential impacts for the implementation of cooperative systems in Europe.
