Naturalistic Driving Research Symposium 2010


The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) organised the Naturalistic Driving Research Symposium 2010.

 

The Second International Symposium on Naturalistic Driving Research was held at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, VA.


The two–day international symposium gathered experts in the field of naturalistic driving research to discuss a wide range of topics including real world operations; instrumentation of vehicles for data gathering; field operation testing (FOT); field technology demonstrations; extraction and analysis of naturalistic driving data; data access & sharing issues; data analysis reporting.

 

Part of the programme was also an international review of experts from Canada, Japan, China, Sweden, Germany, England and the Netherlands. There was also a separate workshop on September 2 for those interested entitled "Removing Roadblocks — Determining and Specifying Data Needs."

SHRP 2 releases report on Analysis Methods

In anticipation of the large volume of data to be collected during the SHRP 2 naturalistic driving study, a report has been released to demonstrate that it is possible to use existing NDS data and data from other sources to further the understanding of the risk factors associated with road crashes.
