Webinar SHRP2 Project S08: Analysis of Naturalistic Driving Study Data

Webinar for SHRP 2 Project S08: Analysis of the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study Data Monday, December 13, 2010 11:00 AM–1:00 PM EST This webinar served as a forum where researchers could learn more about project S08: Analysis of the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study Data and have questions answered by SHRP 2 staff. SHRP 2 Safety research was conducting a large naturalistic driving study (NDS) of the behavior of volunteer drivers in their personal vehicles. The SHRP 2 NDS included a comprehensive safety assessment of how driver factors (including behavior and performance) interact with roadway, environmental, and vehicular factors to affect crash risk (especially for lane departure and intersection crashes). The objective of project S08 was to conduct analyses of the SHRP 2 NDS data to obtain new information and insights on critical safety issues. The results of these analyses should have demonstrated the use of the unique NDS data, lead to real-world applications and safety benefits, and be broadly applicable to a substantial number of drivers, roadways, and/or vehicles in the United States. Multiple awards were anticipated. The results of each award was suppose to lead to real applications for improving one or more of the three fundamental driving components: driver behavior, vehicle design and operation, and roadway infrastructure design and operations. Presenters included: Ken Campbell, Chief Program Officer, SHRP 2 Safety Ann Brach, Deputy Director, SHRP 2 Jim Hedlund, Principal, Highway Safety North Questions?
