PREDRIVE-C2X preparing the ground for field trials
Creation date: 22 October 2009
The European project PRE-DRIVE C2X is carrying out preparatory work for large-scale field trials of vehicular communication technology. More precisely, the project is developing a detailed specification for a vehicle to x communication system and a functionally verified prototype which will be robust enough to be used in future field operational tests. Based on the European COMeSafety architecture, the project is building an integrated simulation model for cooperative systems that should enable a holistic approach for estimating the expected benefits in terms of safety, efficiency and environment. All tools and methods, which are necessary for the functional verification and testing of cooperative systems in a laboratory context as well as on real roads within the framework of FOTs, will be provided. These tools and methods are applied to the aforementioned prototype system to verify its proper functioning and to carry out an impact assessment, including a user acceptance test. Thus, PRE-DRIVE C2X strives to further pave the way for a Europe-wide implementation of vehicle-to-x communication technology and to contribute to the next leap in active safety.
